What to Expect

I want to ensure that you leave Buddu with only positive things to say.  I have put a lot of time and effort into training over the years & continue to update my skills to provide therapies within my scope of practice. If you are unsure if you can receive treatment at Buddu please get in touch and we can discuss this. If I feel it is not within my scope of practice I can refer you to other professional practices in the area. I am strict on health & hygiene so rest assured that the environment is clean, tidy, hands are washed pre/post treatment.

Code of Conduct and Professional Practice

I like to work in a relaxed calm environment, therefore I encourage you to do the same regardless of treatment required. Even in sports/deep tissue treatments the environment is important to allow your body, muscles and soft tissues to warm and relax so the deeper structures can be manipulated. The background music will be relaxing and essential oils vaporise the room for pleasant aromas working on the Olfactory System (sense of smell and response in the body). Therefore please do not expect a clinical environment. Anything you are not happy with please just tell me, it is your treatment and you are paying for it.

Consultation

For your first appointment you will need to fill in a consultation to register. You can print this off at home and bring this in with you to save time on your time booked but I will need to check I can proceed first and ask any relevant questions. In some cases I may need to communicate with you prior to treatment. This can be done by telephone or via email but please be aware via email I can not guarantee data protection. In most cases the consultation will not take longer than 15 mins but this may take time away from your actual treatment. Save time by printing and filling the form  prior to treatment. Please notify me if you require a consultation form prior to your appointment by providing a valid email address for the form to be sent to.

The consultation will cover your medical/family history, current conditions, medication, lifestyle including exercise, nutrition, hobbies etc and if there are any contra-indications which may prevent the treatment from proceeding.

In some instances GP approval is needed and I will not be able to carry out the treatment. It is for your best interest should it happen to you so please do not be offended if this happens.  Treatments may be changed, modified or adapted but this will be discussed prior to treatment.

Once the initial consultation is complete you will need to inform me of any changes on future visits so I can update your records.  All information is recorded on paper documentation, is confidential and locked away to comply with current legislation. I do not discuss any treatments with any other person unless it is for a referral where your permission would be needed. However if you are at risk to yourself or others I have to inform the appropriate persons.

When the consultation is complete you will be given time to prepare yourself while I wash my hands. At this point if there is anything you are unsure about please just ask.  If there is anything you are not happy with throughout the treatment – the room temperature, the music, the lighting, the pressure etc just say so as this can easily be resolved.  This is your time and it is important to me that you feel relaxed and at ease ensuring your experience at Buddu Chill is one to recommend.

Clothing

Depending on what treatment you have at Buddu determines what clothing is needed to be removed.  If you are having a body massage then it is advisable to wear comfortable appropriate briefs as all other clothing is usually removed.  You are covered at all times with towels and couch roll is provided to lie on.  If you have any issues with this please talk to me prior to the treatment so it can be adapted. Oils and creams are used for most treatments and the tissue you lie on can be used to wipe any excess products off – I am not responsible for any damage done to clothing, Jewellery or anything else that you wear or keep on while having treatment. It is your responsibility.  Oils are blended at Buddu Chill using base natural products and essential oils. For pregnant ladies, clients with sensitive skin, allergies or other contra-indications, base oils can be used. Please inform and remind me of any allergies at each appointment.

In some sports massage treatments it may be of benefit to work on the gluteal muscles. Underwear must NOT be removed and MUST be worn or TREATMENT will be REFUSED. Towels are used at all times to ensure you are comfortable and dignified.

Treatments that do not have to remove clothing include

Treatments part clothing is removed

Jewellery/Glasses/Piercings

It is best that all items of jewellery are removed.  I understand that some items are sentimental and removal is not possible however I can not be held responsible for any damage done by any products I use or breakage if you are not willing to remove.  Glasses will need to be removed for some treatments.  Piercings on/in the body will need to be removed or covered by plasters if they are a risk to health and safety.

Aftercare advice

When your treatment has finished we will discuss your aftercare advice.  Everyone reacts differently to different therapies.  This advice is as important so please listen carefully. For more information see here.

Allergies

If you have any sensitivities, allergies especially to nuts or you are pregnant then other base oils can be used.

All treatments can be adapted to suit what is right for you. Treatment descriptions are only guidelines to give you an idea what treatment involves. Each treatment is unique and although has a basic structure does change depending on the day how you are feeling.

A full consultation is carried out on your first visit to ensure there are no risks or contra-indications to prevent the treatment from taking place. Each treatment you must inform me of any health changes.

If I am in a situation where I feel it is not within my scope of practice to treat you  I may not be able to treat you and I will refer you on to the appropriate persons. If  doctors permission is required treatment may not proceed. All information is confidential so it is crucial that you do not withhold anything that may be relevant.  If you are unsure please ask.  When the consultation is complete you will be given time to prepare yourself for your treatment.
